Indian Garden Lizard

The Oriental Garden Lizard or Indian Garden Lizard scientifically known as Calotes versicolor and popularly known as “Girgit” in Hindi language is the most common form of lizard found in Asia. They have a long tail and a crest which usually starts from the upper front part to the back and they have scales all over their body.

A Creepy Visitor

I took this picture from my balcony on a bright sunny day while this lizard was crawling in this Lilac tree. Although, I experience a fear and strange feeling when I see lizards which is called “Herpetophobia” which is “fear of reptiles” and is experienced by many people around the World. The wonderful patterns of the Lizard and the extraordinary texture on the tree encouraged me to overcome the feeling and take this picture.
