

The Indian Peafowl also known as Common Peafowl or Blue Peafowl is scientifically called Pavo cristatus & it's a native to the Indian Sub-continent. They are large Ostrich like birds & they display a marked form of sexual dimorphism and thus the males have a bright blue head, neck and chest with a dark lower back and the upper part has it's signature train of feathers that have vibrant colourful eyes and is used primarily for courtship, while the females lack this trains of feathers and also have a white face with green feathered neck and chest with light black feathers in their back and a big white patch on the lower chest. Both the sexes have strong & long legs and have a strong bill and big rounded eyes. They are considered sacred birds in Hinduism and Jainism.
