On High Alert
I found this one while I was again on a trip to rural parts of Chhattisgarh and stopped by in a rice field to photograph a large group of Cattle Egrets that were foraging in the farm. This little guy was also preying out on insects in that same farm and helping out the farmer, although Lapwings are highly suspicious birds and have a great sense of their surroundings and as soon as he felt my presence he became tensed and left with loud screeching calls warning other birds of my presence too.

Scavenging In The Scarce
This is the same pond that I had described in my series "A Thoughtful Birdie" where a Little Ringed Plover. Well, you may not believe but Red Wattled Lapwings are also from the Plover family, but as you can see are much larger than them. After taking some satisfying compositions with the Plover I turned to this Lapwing who was actually searching for food in the farther end of the pond and as you can see he was not very happy with the attention I was paying to him and as they are very reluctant to human approach, he flew away as soon as I tried to go closer to him but luckily I had taken a few good shots by then.

On The Rocks
I took this shot just a few miles away from my hometown, Raipur, Chhattisgarh. I was driving alone in the outskirts of my town when I heard the calling of this Lapwing from a nearby marsh. I stopped my car and got steady with my camera as fast as I could as the it was getting dark and took this shot. I had to stop after this shot as the Lapwing got very defensive and I realised that it was because her nest was just behind that rock and it was offended by my presence. So, without causing any further trouble I left the place.
