Large Billed Crow

Large Billed Crow or Jungle Crow scientifically called Corvus macrohynchos which as the name suggests has a large thick bill and is often mistaken as Common Raven. It has a long bill and the upper one is quite thick and arched making it look almost like a Raven. They have dark greyish plumage from the back of head, neck, shoulders and lower body and the wings, face, tail and throat are glossy black.

I was on another one of my countryside trips and as usual I was carrying my wildlife gear with me and was enjoying the plush green ambience of the monsoon season. The roads were wet and every now and then there would be a steep curve that would slow me down a bit. On one such curve when my car slowed down I noticed this really big looking Crow. I stepped out of my car with my camera in my hand and went on to take a closer look and I actually thought that it's a Raven and was highly surprised and shocked as Raven's are highly unusual in this part of my country. Later on I found out that it's actually a Large-Billed Crow. It was trying to scrape something from a small piece of bone lying in the ridge of a farmland.
