This photo was taken by me a few days after I purchased my first camera. I took this shot from my terrace where I spend a lot of time bird-watching.
Asian Pied Starling aka Pied Myna scientifically called Gracupica contra is a small bird, slightly larger than the Common House Sparrow. It has a contrasting black & white appearance with a yellowish bill and a reddish bill base. They have a wide calling range like whistles, buzzes, trills, clicks and warbling calls and have a soothing chirpy tone. Mynas are highly social birds and several pairs breed in the same vicinity and form communal roosts to protect their nests at night. The usual clutch consists of 4 to 6 eggs that have a bluish glossy appearance.
